ARCHER2 Data Carpentry

EPCC, The University of Edinburgh

Online

Oct 19-22, 2020

10:00 - 13:00

Instructors: Juan Rodriguez Herrera

Helpers: Chloe Brook, Neelofer Banglawala

General Information

Data Carpentry develops and teaches workshops on the fundamental data skills needed to conduct research. Its target audience is researchers who have little to no prior computational experience, and its lessons are domain specific, building on learners' existing knowledge to enable them to quickly apply skills learned to their own research. Participants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems.

For more information on what we teach and why, please see our paper "Good Enough Practices for Scientific Computing".

This workshop is provided by EPCC and organised in collaboration with ARCHER2, and PRACE. ARCHER2, the UK's national supercomputing service, offers training in software development and high-performance computing to scientists and researchers across the UK. PRACE Advanced Training Centres (PATCs) carry out and coordinate training and education activities that enable both European academic researchers and European industry to utilise the computational infrastructure available through PRACE. As part of our training service, we are running a Data Carpentry workshop.

Who: The course is aimed at graduate students and other researchers. You don't need to have any previous knowledge of the tools that will be presented at the workshop.
